With Jerry Krause stepping down as GM for the Chicago Bulls, there is speculation that Michael Jordan may become his successor according to Steve Wyche of the Washington Post.

Jordan, who has a home in Chicago where his family resides all year, has stated he plans to resume his role as general manager and part owner for the Wizards at the end of the season, but has no contractual obligation to do so and would be free to leave at seasons end.

It is believed Jordan prefers to stay in Washington, however, Jordan also wants to have total control over a team- a responsibility he would share with Wes Unseld and Susan O'Malley in Washington.

Another suitor for Jordan could be in his home state of North Carolina in the form of the new expansion team. Owner Robert Johnson is said to have interest in signing Jordan to be the general manager.

No teams can begin contacting Jordan until the seasons end when his contract runs out.
