The New Jersey Nets denied reports yesterday that coach Byron Scott and superstar Jason Kidd are at odds with each other, a report by Brian Lewis in today's New York Post revealing that some of the reactions were vehement, others surprised, and some just plain comical, if unconvincing.

"There's no rift between me and coach," Kidd said. "My son could write an article like that. Anybody could say officials or teammates, but to write that, you've got to be able to say who said it. When things are good, people try to knock you down. There's nothing going on between me and coach. It's more of a joke than anything else."

"When I read it, I was totally shocked by some of the things," Scott added. "Jason and I have no problem. There's [no rift] whatsoever. None of the stuff rubbed me the wrong way, except saying I turn my back when Jason looks over. That was absolutely ridiculous."
