ESPN.com reports that Memphis freshman guard Dajuan Wagner made official Wednesday what many felt was inevitable as he declared for the NBA draft, joining Ball State junior forward Theron Smith.

Wagner had a terrific season with Memphis, leading the Tigers to the National Invitation Tournament title. He averaged 21.7 points and set a school record by scoring 762 points.

"This was a difficult decision, however my lifelong dream has been to play in the NBA and I am anxious to begin my professional basketball career," Wagner said. "I am going to continue to attend classes and finish the semester, as I promised my mother that I would get my degree."

Smith, a first team All-Mid-American Conference selection, averaged 19.6 points and 10.9 rebounds and helped lead the Cardinals to the quarterfinals of the NIT. The 6-8 forward posted 23 double-doubles to rank second in the country behind Kansas forward Drew Gooden.
