Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel reports: Magic Coach Doc Rivers, an assistant coach for the USA team in the Goodwill Games last summer, said he would encourage McGrady to accept a spot on the USA World Championship team this summer, knowing it probably would lead to a spot on the 2004 Olympic team. Although McGrady originally declined the opportunity, he has changed his mind.

"Yeah, I think I'll be playing in it after all," he said. "I really want to play in that, then get to go on to the Olympics. That hasn't been confirmed yet, but I'm pretty sure it's going to happen."

In other magic news, Magic reserve center Patrick Ewing, who turns 40 in August, said he intends to play again next season. Horace Grant, who turns 37 this summer, said he won't be playing after this season. "As far as I know, I'm playing," Ewing said. "Then we'll see how it goes."
