Suns President Bryan Colangelo said that Golden State has rejected the Suns' final offer for Marc Jackson.

According to Bob Baum of the Associated Press, the deal would have sent a first-round draft pick, forward John Wallace and another player to the Warriors.  Evidently the sticking point was the level of protection the Suns would have for the draft pick.

Colangelo said, "We've moved as far as we're going to move in terms of making the deal.  Based on the information I got today, they're just not prepared to move forward with the deal with Phoenix."

Of course this could simply be a bluff in the negotiating process, so don't be surprised if Wallace and Jackson trade places in a while.

But if the deal is off, the number of teams Warriors' GM Garry St. Jean can deal with is dwindling.  Memphis dropped out of the running earlier in the week.  In the meantime, Jackson is collecting slivers on the bench and St. Jean has nothing to show for Jackson.  St. Jean has said he matched Houston's offer to Jackson mainly for the purpose of trading him.  Right now he's playing pretty high stakes poker with a weak hand.
