The Toronto fans definitely affected Tracy McGrady yesterday, but not in the way you might think.

The former Raptor and his Orlando Magic teammates were so determined not to get caught up in the boos raining down on McGrady that they came out flat. The Raptors built an 18-point lead in the first quarter and nursed it the rest of the way for a 106-97 win.

"You know what? I should have," McGrady said when asked if he should have fed off the crowd's negative energy. "The first time I returned (last season), I fed off it pretty well and we got the win. But I took a step back this time."

The booing yesterday was tamer than it was when McGrady played in Toronto last season.

"I was like, 'Maybe it calmed down a little bit,' " said McGrady, who left the Raptors in the summer of 2000. "Last year, as soon as I ran out and every time I touched the ball in the layup line, they were booing.
