MAGIC UPDATE: Orlando, riding a three-game losing streak, has lost eight of its past 10 games. It has dropped from first to fifth in the league in scoring. The Magic haven't scored more than 90 points in their past three games, largely because McGrady missed two of the outings. . . . A victory would put Coach Doc Rivers' career mark back over .500 in his third season as coach. He is 97-97.

PISTONS UPDATE: The Magic and Pistons can commiserate at tip-off. Detroit has dropped its past five games and is coming off a 117-89 loss to the Seattle SuperSonics. Like the Magic, the Pistons are struggling offensively. They haven't scored 100 points since a 105-77 victory against the pitiful Houston Rockets on Dec. 9 and haven't exceeded 90 points in their past three games.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Orlando has to rebound from its wretched rebounding effort in Wednesday night's loss against the Indiana Pacers. That means keeping Wallace off the boards. Miller, who shot three-of-15 against Indiana, has to assist McGrady with the scoring load. Rivers is wary of Pistons forward Corliss Williamson, who scored 17 points off the bench in Detroit's 105-100 victory at Orlando on Nov. 26. Other small forwards, such as the Portland Trail Blazers' Ruben Patterson and Indiana's Al Harrington, have hurt the Magic this season.
