DENVER ? The Denver Nuggets in the Mike Evans interim coaching era could not cool down one of the hottest teams in the National Basketball Association Tuesday night.

Tim Duncan put together his 19th double-double this season with 24 points and 16 rebounds and the San Antonio Spurs dominated from the free throw line to beat the Nuggets 102-93 at the Pepsi Center.

The Spurs won their eighth game in a row and handed Evans his first coaching loss after two wins. Evans is filling in for Dan Issel while the latter serves a four-game suspension.

The Spurs spent the entire night trying to double-team Duncan underneath and he still did his usual damage. Plus, the 18-4 Spurs showed enough smarts to move the ball around for open perimeter shots from the likes of Terry Porter (4-for-5) and Antonio Daniels (4-for-9).
