EWING RETURNS: Patrick Ewing, who played here last year, received a warm round of applause when he entered the game in the first quarter. The 39-year-old center air-balled his first attempt, a 3-foot finger roll that traveled 2 feet. The future Hall of Famer went 2-for-7 and looked bad doing it.

JAM SESSION: Before leaving the game with a strained lower back, Tracy McGrady had the slam of the night, throwing one down off a lob feed from Mike Miller to cap a Magic fast break.

INTERCEPTED: On another NFL Sunday, Gary Payton made like a defensive back, lurking behind Darrell Armstrong and darting in to steal Miller's outlet pass and convert the layin.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: The Sonics shot 50 percent, including 13 of 24 by Payton and 6 of 9 by Art Long.

THE NEXT MEETING: In his first game against the Magic, Rashard Lewis recorded career highs of 36 points and 19 rebounds in a 123-119 victory in double overtime. Lewis had 14 and 4 last night.

MAGICALLY DELICIOUS: Not much to speak of here, but Miller showed he's got game, leading Orlando with 23 points.

DONE FOR GOOD: Referee Mike Mathis officiated his last game in KeyArena last night. He is retiring in two games.

IN THE STANDS: Mariners center fielder Mike Cameron, signing autographs and exchanging handshakes with a friend of his, Orlando guard Darrell Armstrong.

NEXT UP: Sacramento, KeyArena, Wednesday at 7 p.m.
