The joke around MCI Center recently suggested that a Washington Wizards promotion featuring a Kwame Brown bobblehead doll was getting more air time than the 19-year-old rookie was getting playing time, according to the Baltimore Sun's Don Markus.

Today, though, Brown is expected to join the starting lineup at power forward in place of veteran Christian Laettner. Brown's third start will give him a chance to prove to coach Doug Collins that he is ready to contribute, something he clearly wasn't able to do earlier.

When Collins removed Brown from the starting lineup after his second start, he acknowledged that the rookie clearly was not ready to contribute.

Though Brown will start, Jones likely will see the majority of the playing time. Collins said part of his decision not to bring Brown off the bench with Haywood is because both are rookies. Playing both at the same time could be risky, although not out of the question, Collins said.
