Magic at Clippers

Who: Orlando Magic (11-10) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (9-10).
When: 10:30 tonight.
Where: Los Angeles' Staples Center.
TV, radio: None; WMEL-AM 920, WDBO-AM 580.
Starters: Orlando -- guards Darrell Armstrong, Tracy McGrady; forwards Mike Miller, Steven Hunter; center Horace Grant. Los Angeles -- guards Jeff McInnis, Corey Maggette; forwards Lamar Odom, Elton Brand; center Michael Olowokandi.
Magic notes: Orlando saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night when it lost 107-104 to the Atlanta Hawks. The loss was especially stunning considering that Orlando had defeated the Hawks by 35 points a night earlier in Orlando. The Magic shot just 44 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 17 times. . . . Orlando plays the second game of the six-game, nine-day roadtrip tonight in Los Angeles. The Magic play in Sacramento Tuesday and also have stops in Golden State (Thursday), Portland (Saturday) and Seattle (Sunday). . . . Tracy McGrady had 40 points against the Hawks, but had little help. McGrady made half of his shots and got to the free throw line 18 times, topping 40 points for the second time this season. But McGrady missed a running hook shot with 17 seconds remaining and a long 3-pointer in the final seconds. . . . Hobbled forward Grant Hill was put on the injured list Friday and will not be eligible until Saturday's game in Portland. Hill's ankle pain is not linked to the fracture he had surgically repaired last season, but instead the bone spurs on the top of the ankle. Surgery to remove the spurs is a possibility if Hill's pain does not subside.
Clippers notes: Los Angeles has become one of the NBA's most promising young teams. The Clippers took a 9-5 home record into Sunday night's game against the Charlotte Hornets. The Clippers would be higher in the Western Conference standings if they were not 0-5 on the road this season. . . . The Clippers have endured their share of controversy so far. Star forward Lamar Odom missed several games after testing positive for marijuana usage. It was the second time that Odom has tested positive for the drug. Last week, center Michael Olowokandi was charged with three felonies in a domestic dispute, but the charges were dropped a day later. . . . Elton Brand has been especially stable for the Clippers, averaging 21.3 points and 11.1 rebounds a game -- the third consecutive season he is on pace to average double figures in both points and rebounds. . . . Corey Maggette, who played for the Magic during the 1999-00 season, is starting in place of injured Eric Piatkowski. Maggette has played well this season and likely will be matched up with McGrady. He is one of the few players in the NBA who has the size and athleticism to match up with McGrady.

Next for the Magic: Tuesday at Sacramento Kings, 10 p.m. (UPN-65).
