Before getting 14 points and eight rebounds against the Pistons in Monday night's long-awaited rematch with his former team, Grant Hill said the best of the showdown had yet to come.

"The big draw," Hill said Monday, "will be when I go up there."

Maybe. But that Feb. 1 date at the Palace might be in jeopardy after Hill left midway through the fourth quarter of Orlando's 105-100 loss after reinjuring his left foot.

"They're going to x-ray it tomorrow," coach Doc Rivers said. "The X rays they showed today were clean -- no break, nothing -- but there's pain coming from somewhere."

The game was Hill's first against the Pistons since leaving Detroit from a sign-and-trade deal in August 2000. Last season, surgery on a left ankle bone forced him to miss all but four games, and he sat out a game this past weekend after suffering a sprain in the same foot.

While he was able to play 31 minutes Monday, his former scoring mate, Jerry Stackhouse, could not do the same because of a strained left groin that sidelined him for a third straight game. An MRI taken Sunday was negative, and Stackhouse said he is, "getting better and better each day. I can touch the rim, but I just can't push it enough to dunk."
