Apparently, it never ends.

With Brian Grant and Kendall Gill on the injured list and Alonzo Mourning two games into a comeback from a virus, the Heat received another jolt Saturday: Forward Sam Mack will miss at least two to three weeks with a strained hip flexor.

Mack, given his first start with the Heat in Friday's 104-94 home loss to Dallas, was injured while running downcourt late in that game. He felt a sharp pain in his right hip, played for two more possessions, went to the bench and later told the staff he was unable to return.

Guard Eddie Jones said Mack initially thought he could be out three months, with a tear rather than what the team is terming a strain.

"We thought it was much worse than a month," Jones said. Coach Pat Riley said it is possible the Heat will seek outside help.

"With Sam being out for a while, we'll probably have to consider something like that," said Riley, who opened with Jones at small forward and Eddie House at shooting guard Saturday night against the Cavaliers at Gund Arena.
