Patrick Ewing thought he had seen it all when he watched Kareem Abdul-Jabbar win an NBA title in 1987 at the age of 40 with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ewing was a young pup at the time, just 24, but already an all-star center with the New York Knicks. Yet he was amazed at what the old man was doing. Ewing shook his head in awe as he watched the famed sky hook deliver night after night in the playoffs.

Little did he know what Abdul-Jabbar would do next.

He won another championship at 41.

"He was still kicking my butt at the end," Ewing recalled. "On any given night, young or old, he still got the job done. You don't forget that."
