Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel reports: The Los Angeles Clippers lost Bo Outlaw once when he left as a free agent to sign with the Magic in 1997, but they would love to get him back, according to one NBA source Tuesday.

The Clippers, who played the Magic on Sunday in Tampa, have talked about a possible trade for Outlaw, although nothing is on the horizon, Orlando General Manager John Gabriel said.

"Yes, they've called. They've always liked him," Gabriel said. "There are teams interested in Bo, but I don't see anything happening. He does a lot of things that we need."

Outlaw has been the subject of some trade talks primarily because he will go from a starter the past few seasons to a reserve role now.

Outlaw would be difficult to trade because of his salary ($6 million annually) and because he has a 10-percent trade kicker, which means anyone trading for him would have to pay him an additional 10 percent on the last four years of his contract.

In other Magic news, McGrady missed his fourth consecutive exhibition game, but he was well enough to get in a good workout before the game. He is expected to return Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks at TD Waterhouse Centre.
