Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald in Chicago reports that the situation fits perfectly.  In two years Elton Brand will become a free agent with the Los Angeles Clippers, and teammates Lamar Odom and Darius Miles will be looking for the same.  Their owner, Donald Sterling, has never been known for lavish spending.  At the same time the Bulls would be $10M under the cap, so if he does not get his payday from the Clippers would the former #1 pick consider returning home?

I'm not sure if (agent) David Falk would go for it," Brand said. "I love Chicago, and I love the fans. I would definitely consider it. I'm sure my agent would be adamant against it."

On Wednesday night Elton Brand returns to the place where his NBA career began, and where he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds in his two years.  Not long removed from the struggling franchise, how does Brand feel?

"It will definitely be strange," Brand said by phone from Memphis, where the Clippers played the Grizzlies on Sunday. "It is a preseason game, not a regular-season game. I'm not sure how much I'm going to play. I'll probably go over and visit Fred (Hoiberg) and the guys over there to say hello."
