Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel reports: Although it was rookie Brendan Haywood who the Magic traded to the Washington Wizards this summer, it was rookie Steven Hunter who the Wizards really wanted from the Orlando roster.

The Magic, though, were asking for considerably more than just Laron Profit, who is all they got from Washington in the deal. Michael Jordan had grown fond of Hunter and his athleticism while seeing him play at DePaul.

Hunter was one of the few rookies that Jordan invited to play with him in Chicago recently in his effort to get in shape for another comeback

"He told me he really would have liked to have me in Washington, but it just didn't work out," Hunter said. "Playing with those guys in Chicago was a great experience for me. I think I held my own against some pretty good veteran players."

Povtak also writes about how Dee Brown went out on his own terms and about a few possible replacements for Troy Hudson, as well as some other tidbits from around the NBA.

RealGm note: Orlando also got a first round pick in the Haywood deal.
