Talk about a weak negotiating position.  The Grizzlies must move a top 18 pick to Detroit by June 1 or face losing their #1 pick (top-five protected) in 2002.  It's a debt left over from Stu Jackson's ill-fated trade for Otis Thorpe.  The Vancouver Sun's Gary Kingston says the best route is to get the 18th pick.  That would be a pick flipped from the Knicks to Phoenix to Orlando to Houston and finally to the Grizz.  Unfortunately, Orlando doesn't have to commit to the Rockets until a few days later.  GM Billy Knight says the Grizz are talking with the Magic to make the switch happen.  How much will John Gabriel overcharge?
