Nets Take Losses With Delays To Brooklyn Move

As delays continue in the Nets' planned move to an arena in downtown Brooklyn, the team has incurred large financial losses.

Nets Sports and Entertainment had a pre-tax loss of $77.8 million in the fiscal year ending January 31, which brings the three-year total to $228.2 million in losses.

Nets Owner: 'Atlantic Yards Will Get Built'

Nets principal owner Bruce Ratner has dismissed comments from renowned architect Frank Gehry, and claims that the Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn will get built.

"I don't think it's going to happen," Gehry, 80, said in an interview with The Architect's Newspaper.

"Frank Gehry is a friend, a great architect and someone I have huge respect for," Ratner said in a statement. "It is understandable how he and others have concerns about this project happening in the worst economic environment since the Great Depression.

"But that said, we've prevailed in 22 judicial decisions and are ready to proceed even at a time when other projects and industries have faltered," he added. "Atlantic Yards will get built, and there has never been a time when this project was more important to the people of the state and City of New York and the Borough of Brooklyn."

CDR Adjusting To Tough Rookie Season

Chris Douglas-Roberts has seen limited playing time in his rookie season with the Nets.

"You have to be mentally strong, but I'm not the first rookie to go through this," he said. "There've been plenty of rookies who had to pay their dues and later in their career, they became stars. So I just look at it like that. I'm always positive. I stay positive."
