Nets Acquire Wesley For Robinson, Ilic And Cash

The New Jersey Nets have acquired guard David Wesley from New Orleans in exchange for guard/forward Bernard Robinson, center Mile Ilic and cash considerations, Nets' President Rod Thorn announced Monday. “This transaction provides the Nets with roster flexibility for the upcoming season”, said Thorn. Wesley has played 14 seasons in the NBA, including one season in New Jersey (1993-94). He holds career averages of 12.5 points and 4.4 assists per game. Robinson was acquired by the Nets on January 3, 2007 from the Charlotte Bobcats. He averaged 1.0 point in 10 games with New Jersey last season. Over his three-year NBA career, Robinson has averages of 4.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 128 games. Ilic, the Nets' second round selection (43rd overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft, appeared in five games with the New Jersey as a rookie in 2006-07, totaling one rebound in six minutes of action. Ilic also appeared in nine games with the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League in 2006-07, averaging 5.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.78 blocks per game.

Nets Exercise Third-Year Options On Boone And Williams

The New Jersey Nets have exercised the third-year options on the contracts of guard Marcus Williams and forward Josh Boone, Nets' President Rod Thorn announced Monday. Both players will remain under contract with the Nets through the 2008-09 season. “Both Marcus and Josh have consistently improved since joining our team,” said Thorn. “We look forward to their continued contributions to the Nets.” Williams, a 6-3 guard, and Boone, a 6-10 forward, were teammates at UConn, and were selected 22nd and 23rd respectively in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft. In their rookie seasons, Williams played in 79 games, averaging 6.8 points and 3.3 assists per game, while Boone appeared in 61 contests, averaging 4.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Nets Waive Robert Hite

The New Jersey Nets have requested waivers on guard Robert Hite, Nets' President Rod Thorn announced Sunday. Hite, who signed with the Nets on August 16, 2007, averaged 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in six preseason contests. The Nets roster now stands at 15.
