Houston Rockets reserve point guard Vassilis Spanoulis is strongly considering a return to Euroleague champions Panathinaikos.
Sources close to the 24-year-old who failed to receive meaningful playing time as a rookie with the Houston Rockets, have told PA SportsTicker that Spanoulis wants to be in Athens again for personal and family reasons.
Spanoulis, who is now back in the Greek capital, had only good things to say about the Rockets in his blog that was published on the popular Greek website, www.sport24.gr.
"This year was a great exp erience for me," he wrote. "I keep only the positive things. The team supported me the whole year and people in Houston loved me and that was very important for me."

As much as Bonzi Wells has said about his preference to return to the Rockets, he has not said that he would not opt out of his contract, as he always had planned.
Wells' agent, Billy Duffy, said he and Wells have not reached a decision about whether Wells will become a free agent, but would meet with Rockets officials at the NBA predraft camp beginning Tuesday in Orlando to see what the team has in mind.

Dikembe Mutombo wants a 17th season in the NBA.
The 40-year-old Mutombo was contemplating retirement after the Rockets were ousted by the Jazz in the first round of the playoffs. But dinner with Hakeem Olajuwon changed all that.
"To have someone like that, who I admire so much, tell me I have too much to offer to walk away meant a great deal. What Hakeem had to say really motivated me," Mutombo told Houston television station KRIV.
"I talked with my wife and kids and they want me to play and my brother keeps telling me to play as well," Mutombo said.
Mutombo, who is set to be a free agent, said he told Rockets owner Leslie Alexander he wanted to continue playing for the team.
