Australia have given the Americans their most competitive game of this Olympic campaign yet, and so far in the quarter finals it appears the Aussies are once again putting up a show.

With the scores tied entering the final minute of the first quarter, a Carmelo Anthony three pointer broke the tie and gave the Americans a lead which they held onto into the break. But only slightly.

After 10 minutes of play, the U.S. led Australia by the slimmest of margins, 25-24.

Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard lead the Americans with 8 points each while for Australia former Bull Chris Anstey has 7, and speedy guard Patrick Mills has 6.
