Canada's men's basketball team had their Olympic hopes dashed on Friday when they lost to Croatia in the quarterfinals of a qualifying tournament in Athens, according to The Gazette.

"I think the guys fought hard, but we just ran out of gas," said Canadian Head Coach Leo Rautins. "We rebounded the ball well, got second chances . . . but unfortunately, it just wasn't enough."

Croatia won 83-62. Canada hasn't qualified for the Olympics since 2000 in Sydney.
