By Christopher Reina

We rank NBA players from highest to lowest by my Floor Impact Counter (FIC) for the entire season, not per 40 minutes or per game, which I decided to do because players are only truly valuable when they are on the floor.

Beside each player’s actual salary, we slide in raw salary figures, ranked top to bottom, which determines their ‘deserved’ salary. We use the actual salaries because players in general deserve whatever their agents can negotiate and GMs/owners can afford to pay.

The player who has the highest FIC receives the highest ‘deserved’ salary. The player with the second highest FIC receives the second highest salary. The player with the hundredth highest FIC receives the hundredth highest salary.

We then calculate the percentage increase or decrease from the actual and deserved and that determines their Reina Value, which is listed below in parenthesis.

Click here to see the full rankings, which are updated daily throughout the season.

- Rank. Player, Team: Season FIC, FIC40, Reina Value

1. LeBron James, CLE: 1115, 23.2, +72%

Whether he's wearing number 23 or number six, playing for the Cavaliers, Knicks or Bulls, LeBron James will lead the NBA in this category on an annual basis for the next six or seven years.

2. Chris Paul, NOH: 996, 22.7, +367%

With New Orleans' trade of Tyson Chandler, Chris Paul is just a few short years away from growing KG like eyes of being stuck on a team that isn't going anywhere.

3. Dwight Howard, ORL: 991, 21.7, +55%

Howard has undoubtedly improved dramatically each season and has no peer at center, but he came into the NBA shooting 67.1% from the line and has shot 59.5% or worse every since then, which is a unique statistical anomaly.

4. Dwyane Wade, MIA: 968, 19.6, +48%

Wade's 3-point attempts have more than doubled this season, but he still can't get his percentage over 30%.

5. Tim Duncan, SAS: 918, 20.4, +2%

Duncan is averaging a career high 4.0 assists per 36 minutes, well above his career average of 3.1 per 36.

6. Pau Gasol, LAL: 875, 18.5, +38%

Gasol's improvement on the glass this season has been chiefly on the offensive glass, with a very valuable 3.3 per game.

7. Kobe Bryant, LAL: 856, 17.8, -2%

Bryant has been climbing back up the points per game ranks and is now third with 27.3 per night.

8. Al Jefferson, MIN: 824, 17.9, +87%

Jefferson's All-Star snub season unfortunately has ended prematurely and his 08-09 season FIC is bronzed at 824.

9. Chris Bosh, TOR: 811, 16.7, +41%

Bosh is having a fine season under disappointing circumstances, but this is probably his least effective season since his 05-06 breakout.

10. Jason Kidd, DAL: 805, 17.5, -14%

A walk year for someone who will be 36 next month is a little different than most pending free agents, but Kidd has done everything to prove that he is still elite at the point guard position.

11. David Lee, NYK: 802, 17.1, +911%

Lee is fortunate that the FIC doesn't really take defense into account in this metric, but he has been having an impressive season nonetheless.

12. Dirk Nowitzki, DAL: 794, 16.6, +0%

Dirk's offensive efficiency has decreased for the second consecutive season.

13. Antawn Jamison, WAS: 791, 15.2, +79%

Jamison only trails Kevin Durant in terms of minutes played.

14, Kevin Durant, OKC: 791, 14.9, +267%

Only LeBron and Wade have more 40-point nights than Durant.

15. Rajon Rondo, BOS: 789, 17.3, +1,100%

Behind 36th ranked Paul Millsap, Rondo has the NBA's second best Reina Value.

16. Andris Biedrins GSW 766 19.9 68

Since he doesn't have to/get to share rebounds with another big, Goose is able to pad his rebound totals.

17. Kevin Garnett, BOS: 757, 17.9, -39%

Garnett is once again one of the NBA's best defensive players.

18. Yao Ming, HOU: 748, 18.0, +0%

Yao is having his most efficient scoring season since the 04-05 campaign.

19. Andre Iguodala, PHI: 736, 14.6, +33%

Iguodala was my pick for biggest All-Star snub this season.

20. Amare Stoudemire, PHX: 727, 15.2, -1%

The aspect of Amare's game that people forget about is how much he's developed his jump shot. I think that should preserve his elite status several more years than many anticipate at this point. His blocks being cut in half per 36 minutes is troubling and, so is the drop in his shooting from the floor as he has clearly lost some of that explosion.
