Does anyone else think that the cold weather makes it so much harder to get up in the morning?

Stephon Marbury sees himself as a starter but has okayed a bench role with the Knicks this season. I’m sure Mike D’Antoni and Donnie Walsh are thrilled that Marbury is fine with that role.

In a somewhat surprising move, the Magic have picked up the 2009-10 option on the contract of guard J.J. Redick. The former Duke sharpshooter wanted to be dealt last season, but instead of sulking he did the right thing and worked his tail off this summer.

The Pacers could end up trading two players before the start of the season to make room on the roster for Austin Croshere. I think Croshere is a guy Indiana could use on the floor and in the locker room, and if that means trading someone along with Jamaal Tinsley – so be it.

2K Sports has announced the release of NBA 2K9, the tenth edition of the leading basketball simulation.

The Knicks are reportedly close to a deal with the NBA that would bring a NBDL team to Harlem. I wonder what Nets’ part-owner Jay Z would think about such a move, seeing as the developmental team could steal fans away from his team if a move does take place.

Pistons' Coach Michael Curry said on Sunday that second-year guard Rodney Stuckey reminds him of Chris Bosh. The pair of players have completely different games, obviously, but Curry cites their similar attitudes. That’s a good thing for Detroit and a bad thing for the rest of the Central.

Scott Boras has made it known that Manny Ramirez expects to sign a deal for at least five years and $85 million this winter. Meanwhile, the Dodgers, who are about to begin the NLCS against the Phillies, may not believe that Manny fits into their plans at that price. If I were a Dodgers' fan, I’d worry about all this after the season is over.

Who Can Historically Get Manny Out?, by Christopher Reina.

Mike Mussina is still unsure about whether or not he’ll pitch next season, something that the Yankees apparently want him to do. I’m not trying to hide anything; I’m a Bombers' fan. I also love Mussina, which naturally means that I want him back on the mound in 2009.

A Situation Where Trading Cano Makes Sense For Yankees, by Christopher Reina.

Curt Schilling is contemplating a comeback at midseason in 2009, but will have to see how his shoulder holds up following surgery back in June. I wouldn’t mind seeing Curt on the mound, just as long as he doesn’t steal the limelight away from whatever team he pitches for in the process.

Auditing The Mets: 2008 Season, by Christopher Reina.

Vikings' Coach Brad Childress says that punter Chris Kluwe wasn’t supposed to kick to Reggie Bush in the second half when the Saints running back returned a pair of punts. From Childress’ comments, it looks as though Kluwe will be on a short leash for the remainder of the season.

I did some statistical analysis and determined that teams with a committee running back system win more often than those that feature a single back. That explains why more teams, fourteen this season, are using the two-back approach. It also will probably explain why more than fourteen teams will employ a dual-system in 2009.

Indianapolis Colts: Something’s Got To Give, by Anthony Holds.

LaDainian Tomlinson sees this Sunday’s game against the Pats as a must-win for the Chargers. I can’t disagree, especially with the Broncos storming out of the gate with season.

Andy Reid says that the Eagles are ‘embarrassed’ following their loss to the Redskins on Sunday. I could see why they would be, but there will be no time for rest as they travel to San Francisco to face the 49ers in a few days. If they lose against this Sunday, their playoff hopes will die on the West Coast.

KQ: Champs Roll Without Plax, by Andrew Perna.

96.4% of all teams that have started 5-0 have made the playoffs in NFL history, which makes the Titans a near lock to do so in 2008. In addition, 4-1 teams have qualified 80.6% of the time, which bodes well for the Redskins, Cowboys, Panthers, Bills, Steelers, and Broncos.

I am actually a PC as well…
