Nikola Pekovic underwent an MRI that revealed bursitis in his right ankle. Pekovic will be withheld from basketball activities for 7-10 days and will be reevaluated at that time.

Pekovic will be sidelined indefinitely.

Pekovic left Monday's game at Chicago at the 6:00 mark of the first quarter and did not return.

The 2014 NBA All-Star starters were announced Thursday night on TNT.

Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Kevin Love are the starters for the Western Conference.

The Eastern Conference will be represented by Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony.

The starters selected by the fans, who vote for two backcourt and three frontcourt players.

Durant, Curry, James and George all received more than one million votes.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have recalled Shabazz Muhammad from the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League.

Muhammad appeared in four games for the Energy, leading Iowa to a 3-1 record while averaging 24.5 points, on 57.1 percent shooting, and 9.8 rebounds per game. He recorded two double-doubles during the stint, including scoring 26 points and hauling in a game-high 12 rebounds vs. Fort Wayne on Jan. 11.

Muhammad was named to the 2014 NBADLeague.com All-Showcase Team after averaging 23.0 points, on 62.5% shooting, and 9.0 rebounds in two games during the D-League Showcase. He made his D-League debut on Jan. 7, tallying 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting and seven rebounds.

The Los Angeles Lakers are not expected to take on a salary that takes away future cap space for the summer of 2015.

The Lakers remain interested in trading Pau Gasol, but have been very ambitious in their asking price.

Kevin Love is the Lakers' most probable target that offseason.

"Everyone knows" Love wants to sign with the Lakers, said an Eastern Conference executive.

Kevin Love expressed frustration with his teammates after the Minnesota Timberwolves' 104-103 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

Love has put up strong numbers this season, but the Wolves have a 17-18 record.

"We can't have two guys sitting at the end of the bench that play good minutes just sitting there and not getting up during timeouts,'' Love said, referring to the poor body language exhibited by veterans J.J. Barea and Dante Cunningham in the fourth quarter. "We all need to be in this together. That kind of [ticks] me off. We're supposed to be a team.''

Love is trying to take a leadership role to turn around their season.

"It's two guys that we expect more from them,'' Love said. "I think they expect more from themselves. I'm not trying to single anybody out and I don't want to make it bigger than it is, but it's just a team that we needed to beat tonight and we needed everybody in there, even guys that didn't play any minutes. We need to have a team and a bench that's really in it together.''

The Minnesota Timberwolves have assigned rookie guard/forward Shabazz Muhammad to the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League.

Muhammad has appeared in 11 games with the Wolves this season, averaging 1.1 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

Muhammad, originally selected with the 14th overall pick, was acquired by the Wolves in a draft-day trade with the Utah Jazz.
