He’s gonna be Tatum again at some point right?
I don’t think the Tatum is always like this in the playoffs is fair take, he was a legit top 5 player last year and very close to that the previous year when they went to the finals even though he did have up and down games along those journey. But I don’t know who tf this version of Tatum is and rightfully deserves big criticism for his play these playoffs.

Last year he wasn't posting videos about how to tie your shoes.

Tatum is learning (and struggling) to play team offense after many unhealthy years of worshipping Kobe's iso style and playing iso ball in high school, aau, college and early NBA. He doesn't yet feel totally comfortable getting others involved and not dominating the ball. It doesn't help that Boston media and fans criticize him for not scoring enough points in freaking wins!!!

Tatum has been our main facilitator since 2017.

Lack of experience isn't the problem for sure.

Funny I think most of it is spot on. If you want to call Tatum a superstar he is the most marginal "superstar" I've seen in 40+ years of watching basketball.
When team as a whole isn't making the 3ball the superstar takes over and makes his team win through grit, heart, determination and pure will to win. So let me hear someone, anyone, just one person, tell me that's what you get with Tatum.

What's crazy is that all the players sucked, Joe sucked, everyone sucked.
The most embarrassing thing of all was 8/35 from 3. The Cavs contested shots, and we took too many (especially in the bonus). But 8/35 is hilariously awful. **** JOKE

Congratulations. You've identified the potential cause of our long-time stagnation issues on offense.
Tatum is afraid the ball won't make it back to him once it starts moving.

Thanks. I did in fact identify the cause of our stagnation issues on offense. However it is not Tatum as you believe. It is, believe it or not, Jaylen Brown who is the said cause. The numbers bear this out in hilarious ways. Our offensive rating with Tatum off is 100.9, which would put us in the 6th percentile of all playoff offenses. With Tatum on, it's 123.2, good for the 88th percentile. Now, our offensive rating with Jaylen Brown on is 114.2 or the 52nd percentile, and without Brown it's 133.3, good for the 100th percentile of all playoff offenses.

But what about last year's playoffs, you say? Well, our offensive rating without Brown was 126.1, good for the 100th percentile of all playoff teams. As soon as Jaylen stepped on the floor, though, we became a 114.6 offensive rating team, or the 60th percentile.
You have to go back to 2022 when the Celtics minus Brown were not the best offense in NBA history.

I've watched about 20 LB games and the guy may be the best to ever do it. The ease with which he plays ball in a much tougher era is astounding. This team doesn't have that tough guy. They could have him, but they don't.
I still have the C's in 5.
Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Wouldn't mind Jaylen being traded, who would you trade him for though?

This team is good going downhill. Other than that no.

Cs just need to create the perfect conditions, then Tatum will perform at a high level and carry the team to victory. Early touches so he can get into a rhythm. High usage, lots of touches. Ball in his hands most of the time esp in crucial moments. Right spacing. Unselfish players around him who can make shots consistently when he passes them the ball. No Jaylen Brown on the floor. Referees who will call a foul when he hunts for them. A rim that will adjust when his shot his off so it still goes in. Probably forgetting a couple more so I'll just add to the list later.
All kidding aside, need to see more consistency (esp with his shooting) regardless of circumstance. It's the playoffs. Time to raise his level of play.
