I saw a trade of Ben Simmons for DAndre Hunter, huerter, and Capella and we get Miles Bridges and Simmons.... At least the asking price going down but I'm not taking that one with Hunter personally. Maybe Jalen Johnson can play great a few games and you take Capella, Huerter Johnson

That is definitely getting more palatable. Hunter would be hard to part with…especially to a conference rival.

But it costs talent to get talent. If we have so much faith that Cam Reddish is a future star, seems like he could fill in at SF, right?

I'd give up Trae Young for Simmons TBH.
Can't ask for more in a buy low / sell high scenario.
That would probably make the Hawks unbeatable in the present.
Let Ben go hard for 3Qs and let Lou take over in the 4th.
Who could even compete with this size and defense?

Simmons / Lou
Huerter / Bogi
Hunter / Reddish
Collins / Gallo
Capela / Okongwu

I just can’t handle Ben’s nonchalant attitude. He doesn’t care to get better and he doesn’t seem to mind losing as long as no one is yelling at him. I’d take Trae over him all day, everyday. The chip Trae has on his shoulder will continue to keep him working to get better. Trae also makes the guys around him better and he loves being the focal point of opposing fans’ drama. With Trae out there the rest of the team gets to play 3 on 4 on offense when the game is on the line. Ben would be on the bench in those situations.

  You've got jokes. Good one.
Lou is not that guy anymore - he can maybe do that for a game here and there but not consistently.
You're definitely not a Hawks fan.

That's a big no thanks from us Hawks fans. We're happy with our PG who can actually shoot and already proved he can lead an injured team to the ECF.

I assumed it was a joke lol. I don't think a single GM in the league would do that haha

I don't disagree about the attitude but remember if he had no questions and could shoot he'd be top 10 player and completely untradeable... Any player who can be gotten in a trade has SOME issue....

Unless you're the Lakers of course then you can just get AD cause he says I only got two years and refuse to go anywhere else

Agreed and we get bridges in that deal... Plus we can have Simmons as small ball 5

Simmons offers zero rim protection. He isn’t a C. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective which isn’t happening here and you have to design your whole roster around him. He isn't worth Huerter, Hunter, Capela while also having to pay him around 38m a year over the next 3 years. Not even close… and Bridges does not move the needle either and is about to be RFA next year if he’s not extended.

He's not a point guard, shooting guard, small fiesta or power forward. He can't shoot.

Imo hes a small ball 5 and that's best chance to "unlock" his potential. He was such a clunky fit with Embiid that you have to see him as Draymond type 5 to trade for him

Hunter isn't getting less than $20 a year and Huerter probably getting $18. That's the $38M right there. At some point you decide if you want to keep those guys at 38 or get another player

We are good on that but how about this one?

Hawks get: AD + Marc Gasol (AD is friends with Trae)

Lakers get: Capela + Gallo

Thoughts?

Hawks starters:

Trae
Cam
Hunter
AD
Gasol (Okongwu midway through 21-22 after injury healed)

Lakers starters:

Westbrook
Ellington
James
Gallo
Capela

Here it is on the ESPN trade machine. Salaries 39 mill to 38 mill, trade works!

Lol that's an awful awful trade for the Lakers and has even worse optics. I don't think AD going anywhere.

I did see an interesting trade of Haliburton and Hield for Simmons... Not a bad return honestly especially if they get some picks or something else, plus Simmons goes West

Apparently the Hawks offered Reddish, Gallo, #20...

Sixers countered with Gallo, Reddish, Hunter, Okongwu...lol

Glad we offered what we did. Sixers asking for more than ADavis, Kawhi, Harden lol

That seems like a good starting offer for Beal to me as well...I don't think wizards would take that package but it's not unreasonable if they're forced into a move

where are you hearing that we made that offer?

Beal is an 2K trade, only works in the video game. No way we will be successful with a Trae-Beal backcourt.

Not a huge fan of Beal/Trae long-term but he's such a great player. It really depends what pieces you keep because if you have your defensive wing and big it can work. Obviously Bogi Trae isn't great backcourt either. Ideally you a better defender
