If he falls out of the top-7, he's a steal.

On par with Cam Whitmore IMO.

Any thoughts on 22 year old Kevin McCullar, Jr?

Could he have a Jaime Jaquez, Jr like impact as an older rookie who's incredibly polished and experienced?

How soon is too soon to draft him in a lesser draft like this?

Kevin McCullar

School: Kansas
Position: SG/SF
Size: 6'7", 214 lbs
Age: 22

Kevin McCullar Jr. may not have the self-creation or dribble-jumper game for his 20.1 points per game to carry over. But he's become too well-rounded to bet against. His slashing, cutting, improved spot-up shooting, passing and wing defense will allow him to play on and off the ball out of different situations every game.

And he still may be able to provide some one-on-one offense when given space, just based on extra flashes of tougher shotmaking we're seeing this season.

Regardless, McCullar comes off as a high-floor role player worth taking in the mid-first-round for a team uninterested in waiting on a project.

Tyler Kolek (Marquette, PG, Senior)

Age: 22, Junior

Size: 6'3", 195 lbs

NBA teams looking for extra playmaking could target Tyler Kolek, a pick-and-roll specialist with some unteachable feel and passing IQ in ball-screen situations. The fact that he's a 43.3 percent catch-and-shooter gives him some versatility to provide off-ball shotmaking as well, though athletic and physical limitations may hurt his ability to create and separate, finish and defend.

2nd Round prospect from UNC:

Harrison Ingram (North Carolina, SF, Junior)

Size: 6'7", 235 lbs
Age: 21

Ingram's improved shooting has been a key development, considering his 6'7" size and the playmaking ability he demonstrated at Stanford. He's received far fewer ball screens at North Carolina. Instead, he's become an efficient off-ball scorer, important for his chances to find a fit at the next level. The combination of shotmaking and passing creates intriguing connector potential.

Payton Sandfort (Iowa, SF, Junior)

Size: 6'7", 215 lbs
Age: 21

Sandfort's shooting could be worth targeting, given his 6'7" size and high-volume shotmaking versatility—plus 2.8 assists per game that highlight some ball-moving value and IQ. His job description would have to be simple: make jumpers, pass and play mistake-free.

Devin Carter

School/team: Providence
Position: PG/SG
Age: 21, Junior
Size: 6'3", 195 lbs

Pro comparison:
Jose Alvarado

Initially interesting for his pesky defense, unique shot-blocking and hustle plays, Devin Carter is now delivering the type of scoring consistency that's raising his perceived ceiling. With a archetype and floor similar Miles McBride's and Jose Alvarado's, the improved creativity and shotmaking now has scouts interested in Carter's offensive use and trajectory.

I agree that the 'worst draft in years' label for this year is overblown.

There are some gems in the draft class and the collection of Centers is surprisingly solid.
A half dozen long term prospects available outside the top-10 at that position.

Seems like some Lu Dort-esqe qualities for this young man. Hopefully he returns to college for another season and further develops into a top-end role player.

KJ Lewis (Arizona, SG/SF, Freshman)

Image

Size: 6'4", 205 lbs
Age: 19

It's understandable why teams may not want to invest this early on a limited creator with 10 made threes all season. Shooting will be a key swing skill for Lewis, who already looks like an NBA defender and finisher with passing skills that his role and numbers often hide. Lewis may ultimately require the right fit and an imagination that pictures a tough, multiposition defender and off-ball weapon capable of impacting games without needing plays run for him.

Reed Sheppard absolutely feels like the perfect fit for San Antonio next to Wemby.

^From No Ceilings Feb Mock Draft:

Image
Spoiler:
Atlanta Hawks — Stephon Castle, G, UConn

Stats (as of 2/13/24):
10.9 PTS | 4.4 REB | 3.1 AST | 1.1 STL | 0.6 BLK

48.3 FG% | 32.4 3P% | 71.6 FT%

18 Games | 26.3 MIN

Rowan Kent: Although Dejounte Murray survived the trade deadline, the increased chatter combined with the stagnant nature of the Hawks gives strong signals that the team is looking to shake up their roster. Levying all the ball-handling duties onto Trae Young hasn’t worked before, making Stephon Castle’s selection an excellent way for Atlanta to get younger in a position of need. Castle battled through injuries early before settling into his current rhythm, which includes topping 17 points in three of his last five games. He’s looked increasingly like the aggressive driver he was in high school and has defended on the perimeter at a high level all year. With good positional size and the mystery of his jumper, there’s still enough untapped potential for Castle to be a possible star fit next to Young in Atlanta’s backcourt.
Image
Spoiler:
#21. Atlanta Hawks (via SAC) — Zach Edey, C, Purdue

Stats (as of 2/13/24):
23.3 PTS | 11.7 REB | 1.8 AST | 0.3 STL | 2.3 BLK

62.3 FG% | 50.0 3P% | 71.0 FT%

24 Games | 30.8 MIN

Albert Ghim: Context is ridiculously important. Suppose this were a regular draft where we had huge marquee names at the top and a stable number of future superstars in the making; this Mock Draft would look very different. With that said, Zach Edey is in this class and will be selected by someone in the 2024 NBA Draft.

I’ve seen multiple draft observers deduct points from Edey because of his perceived lack of lateral movement and quickness. Considering his size and build, it makes sense that Edey wouldn’t be the fastest lateral mover on the planet. With that being said, Edey is nowhere near as slow and limited as a mover as people make him out to be. Considering how large he is, Edey has shown some impressive lateral movement and the ability to stay active on the defensive side of the ball.

I’m not saying he’s prime Chris Bosh or Draymond Green, but he can move much better than [skeptics] are making it seem. Edey has been a ridiculously productive player in college, and with his improved physique and blossoming game on both ends, any team in the league should feel great about using a potential first round pick on him. Edey will be tough to guard and will be a better defender than people think, and adding giant people to a roster will always be a plus—23.3 PTS, 11.7 TRB, and a box plus/minus score of 15.4 is production you just can’t ignore or discredit.
