So we will draft another undersized guard.

For the most part, yes. Drafting another PG doesn't make a ton of sense. Trae, Murray, Bufkin, and now a 4th one? This team has too many holes to fill.

This is like when BK kept drafting tweener forwards over and over again.

He's already a Trey Murphy clone at just 18. No telling what he morphs into by age 22-23 where OO and JJ are now.

Just a reminder: older draftees can indeed be contributors as rookies.

Bold Prediction:

If Hawks were to acquire Ben Sheppard this summer, he'd be a starter for this team by January. :o

He's good enough to start, just needs some NBA caliber coaching and a training program to handle the rigors of NBA players for 82+ games a year.

Need an additional FRP to make this happen. Could certainly use someone like him or Kel'el Ware.

As analysts have mentioned, this draft is really flat after the top-8.

It wouldn't be the worst thing if we were to trade back for multiple picks between 15-35.

NOTE: Kel'el Ware has all the tools to be a standout player.. But i keep hearing that scouts/coaches are really low on him because of motor/maturity issues.

A comparison I've heard mentioned is DeAndre Ayton.
All the talent in the world, none of the drive.

With that said, gambling on K Ware in the 20s isn't the worst decision in the world.

They are supposed to be instant impact players. The issue is the ceiling and how it affects the team once they need to compete during the playoffs.

Even a couple of highly drafted freshmen have contributed to varying degrees to playoff teams.

One of these kids will be playing in the WCF next week.

Going small at any position doesn't make sense to me unless we're certain the player is a future all-star. We won't win with anything below a 7-footer at the 5. The league is shifting due to Wemby.
