I think Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson would have something to say about that...

Larry Bird (who I'm surprised has not been mentioned) was one of the greatest trash talkers.
I love some of the things he used to say/do

Agreed that if you cant back it up, then shut up

Sugar Ray was in a different weight class, so its hard to really compare them. Joe Louis, Marciano and Ali, though. That would be an interesting discussion.

ALI would have the fastest first step in the NBA, like Jordan.

Point taken, but Sugar Ray is considered the best pound per pound boxer of all time and that weighs alot in my opinion and should considered among the "greatest" title. Joe Louis resume speaks for itself, and I think he had a bigger social impact than Ali. Rocky... I think he has an inflated record and give too much importance this the 0 on his resume and not look at the fighters he fought. Ali was by far the most popular fighter of any era, but that doesn't make him the greatest in my opinion. I think he was one of the smartest boxers of any era and in a way he is alot like TD that he was methodical, fundamentally sound in the ring.

He had a bazooka like jab, and that is what really separated him from other boxers.
