now kids have the green light to smoke

they get caught and their parents asked why they did it

"nba player josh howard smokes it..."

they will not get into much trouble
howard might of just saved millions of peoples butts!

I think this is huge... this should be a 6 month suspension for Josh Howard and full investigation by the league and the FBI in my opinion

True. If a parent finds a dimebag in a teenager's jacket, the kid can just say, "But it's not my weed, it's Josh Howard's weed, I was just holding it for him, I didn't know what it was, I swear!"

the biggest difference between the dudes my age who work out in the warehouse and shop and me being an executive is that they like to drink and smoke pot every day - that and my salary is about 3 times higher...

far be it from me to criticize people utilizing their freedom to choose how they want to live, but you'll always do better in life if you dont do drugs and abuse alcohol

 you've gotta be getting me. EVERY TEAM in the NBA would sign Josh Howard regardless of him smoking weed. He's a great young player who anyone would want to have.

Also in response to everyone saying "ohhh, the kids will want to be like their role models and their start smoking to." I absolutely HATE that method of thinking. Kids aren't mindless drones, any child old enough to start handling drugs is old enough to stop blindly following media personalities.

i dont doubt that for a second. just my observation being in the workplace. i work with people who i know could do better if drugs and alcohol werent so important to them.

again, i have no problem with it. like every choice we make, we deal with the consequences good or bad.

Perhaps you have it backwards, and doing better isn't so important to them.

That's the attitude, their stimulus check is in the mail.

obviously you are correct. although these dudes are always the ones sitting in the lunch room complaining they are broke all the time wishing they didnt have to still live at home or with roommates. if your way to enjoy life is getting high, well i dont even really know where to start. i guess i say, enjoy.

Well said. The "effects" of weed are anotehr story. There is no doubt in my mind that plenty of NBA players (and succesful people in general) light up and don't allow it to effect their work. It's just like alcohol in that respect (although less destructive to the body and not physicall addicting), doing it casually is perfectly fine as long as you are responsible with it and still get work done.

But the fact that Howard said this in public is idiotic. He's opening up the league to an awful period of PR from the ridiculous sports media (ESPN) and also threw fellow players who smoke under the bus as well. Why he decided to say this on the radio is beyond me.

Um alcohol is much more destructive to the body and is just as physically addicting.

What you're describing is a subset of "Loser", the loser who likes to get high. There are a multitude of winners who like to get high, too. It's not enjoyment itself. It's just one way to enhance enjoyment of life, like a scotch on the rocks or a hike through the mountains or lube.
