Cassell already has 2 rings- he is not ring chasing at this point of his career. If anything, Boston/KG WANTS Cassell's help.

Who told you guys that don't worry about trading your depth. Midseason would come around and every waived player is putting Boston right on there To do list. Boston could use perhaps an athletic big man but that shouldn't stop them from going deep in the playoffs.

Irrelevant question: Some guy from the net told me that Sam Cassell is nicknamed "Sam I Am", because he is selfish and only plays for money. Is it right?

ScaLoPhobiA, I assumed "Sam I Am" was a Green Eggs and Ham reference.

As mentioned, Cassell is a useful addition to this team. Also, for those deriding him, how about this - Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett are his friends. (At least I think so.) Playing for the best team in the league with your friends on a hallowed franchise as your last stop is as good as it gets. Way to go Sam.

Ballings:

In regards to your questions about Cassell's defense you have to remember that he'll look better on the perimeter simply because the Celtics play great help defense and now have 3 legit 6'10"+ guys in KG, Perk and PJ to protect the rim. Also Cassell will not be forced to guard the quicker PG's that he struggles with because Rondo is THE man at PG and he's an excellent matchup for the quicker PG's.

In regards to defending Chauncey Billups I'd say that that has been vastly overdramatized. The C's have Tony Allen who is a great matchup defender for Chauncey. Tony has the size, quickness, length, and strength to really give Mr. Big Shot fits. And Rondo's defense is improving as the season progresses. I feel more than comfortable with Rondo guarding either Chauncey or Rip as well.

Yup Sam isn't coming in to stop Chauncey from scoring.

He's coming in to stop Lindsey Hunter from steal the ball from House for 5 consective plays as House attempts to break the half court pressure.

It's the steady hand of an experience PG that can break a full court press that's Sam's biggest asset. War of attrition.
