The Allen Houston Exception

I remember hearing about this a few yrs back when the league let every team cut 1 player. Did they discontinue this exception. Why?

It was a one time thing that had to do with the introduction of the new CBA.

ironically, the knicks didn't use this on allan houston dspite it being "named" after him.

they discontinued it because Boston could not find any use for it and thus it was meaningless to the league..

They discontinued it so Kevin McFail couldn't use it on 'Toine so 'Toine could reunite with the Celtics AGAIN.
