Congratulations Kobe - now #3 for number of 40 point games!!
Kobe Bryant just passed Elgin Baylor to place number three for career 40 point games.
Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan are the other two ahead of Kobe, and Kobe is still playing. Another magnificent career achievement!

Things even out considerably. Just look at the league average ppg during the Jordan years.
110.8
110.2
109.9
108.2
109.2
107
106.3
105.3
105.3

Just imagine... 100 to 95 was a low scoring game. LOL! Hell, the only reason the scoring dropped each year was because of the new expansion teams inability to score at all. The top teams still were able to average 120 in a season.

Since the 04-05 season he has scored 40+ points 56 times in the regular season. Over that time he has played in 267 games. So thats 40+ every 4.7 games.
When did MJ or Wilt play with anyone who was avg'g 25ppg? Jordan never did and it wasn't until Wilt went to the Lakers and played with West that he did.
Kobe spent the majority of his career with Shaq who avg'd 27 points. So that comparison is apples and oranges........
I'm so tired of the typical......
