Who is going to replace Kawhi Leonard on team USA?

Post#1 » by SUPERVILLAIN » Wed May 1, 2024 5:47 am

Kawhi Leonard is injured. Again. But I won't raise a question about the playoffs implication his injury. I am looking way ahead. I am thinking the Olympics. It is almost guaranteed that Kawhi will not be playing in Paris.

So who is going to take his spot?

I know it won't happen but I like what I'm seeing from Jalen Williams right now. Great defender, long, can shoot, play off the ball and playmake. USA could use his young legs.

Mikal Bridges should not have been replaced by Kawhi to begin with.

One is almost always injured and the other isn’t.

Yall should probably look to add a big since I doubt Embiid is gonna play either and we all know AD might bump into a door to knock him outta the Olympics too lol.

Μore to come I'm sure.
I don't think people understand what it means to play in the Olympics... I just got an email that team USA has already booked two games in mid July in friggin Dubai. This means whoever goes a little deep in the playoffs will have to pretty much go straight from the POs to Team USA camp, to travelling God knows where for exhibition games, to France for the Olympic games probably all the way to the Final, wait until closing ceremonies and media days are all done, back to the US for their team's camp, to a whole new NBA season, with little to no rest in between.

I mean I appreciate that all those American players put their hand up but I'm kinda suspecting a lot of them will remember that something hurts once they realise what it all actually means for their summer.

It should be a team, not all all-star vote. Gordon and Bridges are great ideas.

Somebody bigger than a guard.

The current frontcourt roster is old, fragile, Tatum or Bam. And Tatum projects to play deep into the postseason.

Fortunately Durant, Davis, Lebron and Adebayo have already been eliminated from the playoffs, and should be well-rested for the Olympics accordingly.

I’d pick Paul George. Brunson’s a great floor raiser for an offense, but he’s not what you want on an all-star team. George can do it all. He’s a tough physical defender, he can move off the ball and hit shots, it’s just a lot easier for him to slot in on a superteam.

Lol I just looked at his percentages and got shook.

I thought for sure he was shooting better.

This.

Jarret Allen, Bobby Portis, Myles Turner, and Evan Mobley would seem to be the obvious candidates. I'd probably go with Turner.
