Should Memphis draft Bronny at 7?

Post#1 » by Shock Defeat » Tue Apr 30, 2024 7:19 pm

Because every team that can draft Bronny will get LeBron James as a signee. It's essentially like trading a 1st round pick for LeBron. We know Bronny isn't close to NBA calibre, LeBron has proven that he is still a star in this league based on how he played vs DEN.

If I were Memphis, sitting at 7, I would seriously consider drafting Bronny which would all but guarantee LeBron signing there. That team is ready to contend

If Memphis passes on Bronny at 7, I would also advocate my Rockets to pick him at #9. Adding LeBron would elevate the Rockets.

No, unless the GM really wants to be fired.

I'm so beyond sick of all the Bronny James talk.

The guy wouldn't even be remotely near being picked at all if his dad was literally anybody else.

If he gets drafted anywhere in the first round it makes an absolute mockery of the draft and the incessant hype for a guy who wouldn't make a G league roster will be even more sickening.

An absolute circus.

First, I don’t believe Lebron will go anywhere just to play with Bronny and on top of that throwing away 50 million plus to do it.

Also, and perhaps I am giving everyone too much credit but why would Lebron as a father want to turn his son into Thanasis James and why would Bronny who I am sure wants to be the best possible basketball player in his own right want to this to himself.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

No.

He is not a first round talent.

Arguable second round talent.

If any team drafts him in the Lottery they are just helping teams below them select a better player.

Draft tip: BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE not some hypothetical pipe dream.

PS Guaranteed Salary at #7 is over $10M a year.

Bronny isn’t even a second round talent from what we have seen so far. Drafting him as a way of luring or securing LeBron would be sad.

I mean he averaged 4pts 2 assists. Is he really a second round talent?

Lebron fans would have a coronary at the thought of him finishing his career in a small market like Memphis

No guarantee LeBron goes there. He may just cause a media storm and paint it as memphis (or whatever team drafts him) is holding bronny hostage.

And either better to use the pick on a guy who could become a very good player. Bronny is barely gleague caliber.

Why waste a pick when you can just sign him when he goes undrafted?

And who started this fake narrative anyway, that LeBron will sign with whatever team gets his son? LeBron isn't like that, if there can be something to be gained sure, but I don't see LBJ leaving 100mil on the table to go play for the CHA Bobcats or Detroit Pistons.

LeBron doesn't seem like the type of guy that will play for the Wizards like MJ, he's way to egotistical and self aware/conscience to even consider that.

I mean it would be a cute story, they would look great in a few Nike and Cap'n Crunch commercials together, but is wasting a pick really all that for a few father day tshirt sales?

Do you honestly think NBA players trying to compete would be down with 100% of the narrative/attention of their team which they are sweating for going to a mediocre at best 20 year old and 40 year old star?

Players respect LeBron, but if the last 3-4 years have shown us anything it's that LeBron aint like that no more with this new group

Even if it was GUARANTEED Lebron would come to my team, I still would have no interest in wasting a top-10 pick just for the right to overpay a 40-year-old Lebron.
I'm not sure I'd give him $50+ mill even if I didn't have to draft Bronny.
Maybe on a one-year deal. Maybe. But he would never accept that anyway.
I don't know why people think Lebron is still a top-tier guy. I'd rather sign Paul George no cap.

Can you imagine drafting Bronny with a top 10 pick, only for LeBron to have a change of heart, re-signing with Los Angeles?

You're stuck with a prospect who may not be ready for the NBA, you wasted a valuable draft pick in the process and a whole year worth of tanking.

Yep, I agree with this. LeBron ain’t going anywhere to play with Bronny. He’ll use the possibility to get teams to overdraft him (Which technically the last pick of the 2nd round would be over drafting him) and then be all ‘nah, I’m good, thanks for signing Bronny!’ And/Or force the Lakers to draft him.

More like your stuck with a prospect who may not be NBA material.

Its 100% clear Bronny isnt ready for the NBA, but its also very likely he simply isnt a NBA talent to begin with.
