Detroit would took care of Phoenix in 5 games in 2005.

Also don't think they would of beat Miami in 2006. Miami was too balanced, deeper, tougher, and more experienced. Wade and Shaq and Haslem would have even bigger series than against Dallas. They wouldn't of been able to run a lot with Riley, Shaq, and Wade dictating the tempo.

Disagree. Detroit wouldn't have beaten then, certainly not in 5 games.

Let's not forget that the '04-'05 Suns had a healthy, pre-surgery Amare Stoudemire to go with Marion and Nash. The Pistons wouldn't have stood much of a chance, IMO, I'd say Suns in 6.

As far as Miami in '06, maybe. But Phoenix was never as soft on O as the Mavs were that year, they certainly wouldn't have lost 4 straight to the Heat.

Yeah, I wasn't forgetting about Amare - but, wow, okay then.

Orlando Argulualy (sp) 16-year Miami radio host on ESPN: "And they expect Shaq to play defense and get rebounds? That's actually a weakness for him now."

Ouch. True, though.

:reporter: "Hey Nash what's your biggest weakness?"

Why it's defense. That's why the run and gun style is the best way to get use out of me. See I have HoF passing abilities and foresight along with great shooting skillz, but I just can't play any defense so we try to make up for that by running off misses and taken our opportunites when they come.

:reporter: " Hey Shaq what do you excell at nowadays"

Lowpost offense and HoF passing from there in the half court. I'm an average defender nowadays and about the same for rebounding.

:reporter: What about your speed?

I have trouble with slight jogs sometimes, nagging injuries. So say if I was on a running team my team would be at a disadvatage because they'd be playing 4 on 5 in the fast break. Just imagine me against someone like Chandler, hell he'd probuly run down the court on my team's fast break block the shot from someone like Barbosa AND get back to the post fast enough to run by me for a layup, ya dig?

Mind, Amare had little trouble scoring against the Spurs, the best defense in the league. Let's not forget he put up 30/11 on 54% in the playoffs, he was a monster and the Suns were unreasonably hot from downtown for the entire postseason.

I don't think Detroit would have been able to limit their offense enough and their own scoring abilities weren't sufficient to match Phoenix's output.

ESPN reporting the physical is a DONE DEAL:

Sources: Shaq passes physical, traded to Suns in Marion deal

Diesel will be chugging out West.

In one of the most improbable trades in NBA history, the Miami Heat traded Shaquille O'Neal to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com.

Completely disagree. Those Suns had 0 help off the bench, and Barbosa was avg a mere 7 ppg that year. Larry Brown and the Pistons would have rolled through Phoenix without question.

This is the first time that Shaq will be on a team without an all-star cailber swingman. I mean it might work, but I have doubts. Shaq is simply just too old.

Patently untrue... Jim Jackson's 11 ppg off the bench on 49/52/88 in the playoffs doesn't count? Stephen Hunter's rotational minutes didn't count? He wasn't awesome but he was helpful and averaging a block a game in about 14, 15 mpg. Besides, it was the playoffs, they ran a tight rotation... the Pistons did much the same thing.

This is the first time that Shaq will be on a team without an all-star cailber swingman. I mean it might work, but I have doubts. Shaq is simply just too old.

No swingman, true, but it's also the first time he's played alongside a former MVP at prime level (Malone was much-reduced, of course). And he's also got another All-Star big next to him and a host of shooters.

No one's asking Shasq to carry the team, remember, he's not being asked to be The Man, he's being asked to fill a role much like the one he played for the Heat in the Finals against Dallas, only with a bit more emphasis on outlet passing to open up the transition game. Shaq focused on rebouding and passing and was still able to offer some offense because of his efficiency from the floor and the volume of FTs he drew.

The offense doesn't need 20+ ppg from him, they just need him to facilitate and he's great at that.

Just letting you know, Phoenix radio now saying that Shaq hasn't had his MRI done yet, and he hasn't officially "CLEARED" his physical.

The longer the suns are short handed, the better.

Who wants to bet that Nash will be the next "best guard" Shaq's ever played with.

The Suns official website seems to think he has "cleared" his physicals...
