In the last 21 seasons only 3 of the MVPs have won the title that same year. Is winning the MVP a curse?
2024: Jokic loses in second round (worst game 7 choke in NBA history)
2023: Embiid loses in second round (coincidence that this is the year Jokic wins title?)
2022: Jokic loses in first round
2021: Jokic loses in second round (swept)
2020: Giannis loses in second round (best regular season record again)
2019: Giannis loses in second round (best regular season record)
2018: Harden loses in WCF (CP3 injury)
2017: Westbrook loses in first round
2016: Steph Curry loses in Finals (3-1)
2015: Steph wins Finals, (this is how far back you have to go for an MVP title winner)
2014: KD loses in WCF
2013: LeBron wins Finals
2012: LeBron wins Finals
2011: Rose loses in ECF (his injury woes started after this season)
2010: LeBron loses in second round (best regular season record again)
2009: LeBron loses in ECF (66 win team)
2008: Kobe loses in Finals
2007: Dirk loses in first round (67 win team)
2006: Nash loses in WCF
2005: Nash loses in WCF

You get the point
As a Mavs fan I would like to thank the voters for not voting Luka Doncic for MVP, that makes me feel like he still has a chance at the title this season
