I thought Dwight did in 2020?

Seriously though from this list? Hakeem. Arguably the goat defender

him and shaq going against each other would have been interesting
Joker would get into major foul trouble unless you played him at PF next to another center

Yao has the length and size to slow down Jokic, smaller centers like Dwight or Ben Wallace aren't the right type of counter to Jokic if you ask me.

I'm with you on Wallace, too small, only weighed like 240-245. Howard wasn't really small though, he was just a little bit short. He was playing in the 270-280 range and I've never seen anyone that weight in the NBA as absurdly shredded as Howard was, one of the strongest players in NBA history with very long wingspan too. I don't think Wallace had the strength to keep Jokic out of the post, Howard certainly did. Howard's strength advantage over Jokic is the main reason how even the old broken down corpse version of him was able to give him so much trouble.

That is far from obvious. Bill Russell has 11 rings.

I think Wilt and Nate Thurmond are also as good as or better than Hakeem on D. The length and strength of those guys were off the charts and they had quickness, too.

Harry Palmer wrote:People underestimate how strong Hakeem was. The power players of his early and late career (Moses and Shaq) both called him the strongest player they ever faced, though Shaq may have moved Yao up there later on, hard to tell he wasn’t as specific. But Moses said that Hakeem’s muscles felt inhuman, more like wrought iron than flesh, and all of his amazing arsenal of moves depended on the defender first having to account for basics/power, and if you watch early Hakeem highlights you’ll be surprised how much of his game was straight up power and athleticism.

Eh, I doubt Moses would ever call Hakeem stronger than Artis Gilmore, that's highly unlikely.

The answer is a player with David Robinson's physical attributes and Tim Duncan's personality/approach/fundamentals to play basic defense and not fall for any of Jokic's moves.....
I'm so tired of the typical......

Yao would be a nightmare for Jokic because he would make the joker work on defense. Yao literally has a better offense than Jokic.

Plus Yao's defense is also better with more height and weight.

Yao and prime Dwight would've caused nightmares for the joker

LOL @ "Rudy sends him packing". It was a by committee approach that negated Jokic to some degree. Minnesota had a lot of big bodies they could throw at Jokic and even have Rudy roam or just protect the rim.

Please just stop with the comedic relief...lol.

Man gtfoh with that made up bs. Tim might have played him in spots but there's a reason you guys had DRob, Rasho, Fabrizio, Tiago. Duncan would be in foul trouble every game if he guarded Shaq exclusively.

Duncan defended Shaq for the majority of the series in 2002, he needed because of Robinson injury. Still played almost 48 mpg.
I could tell you didnt watch the games. Mark Bryant and Malik Rose guarded Shaq with Tim doing spot work. Like I said Duncan would be in foul trouble every game but you go ahead and pretend you know what you're talking about

KAT did more than Rudy did to send him packing. Gobert was so bad in the first half I'm pretty sure Micah Nori's halftime speech to Rudy was "please stop being French for the next 24 minutes"
