Yea, there's nothing Wes has done so far to deserve praise. He has been a disappointment. So Winger is definitely puffing right now.

How you set the table doesn't change the food on offer. We were bad before Wes arrived, & we continued to be bad after he got here.
Thinking Wes has anything significant to do with our woes is pointless. He doesn't.

Man, that's a comprehensive, worthwhile dive. Makes me appreciate WUJ even more. He'll be a great NBA coach when he gets a decent roster. He can't be happy with his (presumed) tank mandate.

Wow! Very interesting. If nothing else, the loyalty and confidence shown by Winger should boost team cohesion. The players will all believe that the organization is 100% behind Wes.
This might be the right move even if they end up firing Wes and hiring someone else next summer. Whatever Wes' salary is next year is a small price to pay to project confidence in him now.

Agreed.
In any case, we played to the capability of our roster the last two years. There was no miracle worker out there who was going to suddenly make us better.

Some may say Wes is a great tactician, but the proof ain't in the pudding...with disastrous defense being played, over helping and allowing for easy buckets.

Who are those folks that are saying he's a great tactician
Everything you need to know about the teams defense is Unseld's quote about how the offense is setting up the defense...
Gallinari being our only nominal backup center is a problem, that doesn't mean that Unseld has to play him so much in clutch time.
He benches Deni without much hesitation, but he'd be a far better option as small ball center than anybody else on the roster.

It's a good podcast.
The TL;DR version is that the Wizards inexplicably provide double-team help from a defender guarding an offensive player who is just one pass away. So if there's a pick-and-roll coming from above the break on the right side of the court, we will bring help from the the top of the key rather than from the opposite corner. The result is that the offensive ball handler can draw in the double team help and then make a simple pass to his now open teammate at the top of the key to take an uncontested open 3.
No competent team does this. You should always bring help from a guy that is two passes away. That way, you have time to rotate and recover.
The other common mistake is that the Wizards always make a "soft switch". When Luka dribbles the ball past half court, they bring in the offensive player guarded by Jordan Poole, and set a lazy screen way back at the half court line. Inexplicably, the Wizards casually switch that screen so that Poole is now guarding Luka instead of Avdija. Why switch that screen at the half court line? Just go under. Luka isn't going to take a step-back 40-footer!

If I may, other than pull-up shots, the only other thing Deni can't/can't yet do is play and guard centers. Imho.
