Should the Raptors target Jamal Murray in 2025?

Post#1 » by Potential » Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:00 am

Jamal Murray is a Canadian professional basketball player born in Kitchener, Ontario. He also represents the Canadian national team. He played one season of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats before being drafted by the Nuggets as the seventh overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft.

Jamal Murray will be a 28 year old unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025.

Will Masai Ujiri and the Toronto Raptors make a big offer to bring the biggest playoff riser and clutchest playoff performer in the history of sports back home to bring the 2nd ever NBA Championship to his home country of Canada?

No. He already has injury issues. We need to build this from the ground up. It has a better chance of success and it's more satisfying.

He'll be signing his extension this summer, so no point in even thinking about it.

He's a very good player but I'm more interested in what Quickley becomes, he's younger, less mileage on his body and will cost less.

I also think the NBA has evolved past the small ball era, and if you're going to take a swing at someone... it's gonna have to be a big of some kind. I don't necessarily mean a center, but a long and strong body.

Forget it, the entire city of Denver won’t let him go.

100%, the raptors will be looking to add an established star to play beside Scottie like the Mitchell pairing for Mobley, the Gobert pairing for Edwards or the Siakam pairing for Hailburton especially if they are not able to draft one. The invaluable playoff experience Mobley and Banchero were able to get this year is definetly showing talent is a pressing need.

Not guaranteed! Since he's never been an all star, prolly best to go for it next season. His money will increase drastically

if Nuggets win another championship it's unlikely he's going to leave that situation.....but if he did sign with the Raptors we would have to pair him with an all-time great generational superstar like Jokic...realistically not going to happen.

Has had some serious injuries, would be an idiot to leave Jokic, and lives in Colorado full time. SGA should be the target.

I'm sure they will, but most guys just stay with their current team because they like money and can get the most from them. Plus, the dude gets to play on a title contender, with a GOAT bigman every year.

I would argue the opposite. He is one of the more clutch players in the league. 3 level scorer. Can run the point. Big games in the playoffs. Won a championship.

Has never made an allstar team. He is underrated for sure.

He's one of the few guys in the league whose numbers get better in the playoffs.

Murray will most likely be signing his extension this summer. I don't see this as likely at all.

In typical Raptors fashion we’ll bring him home when he’s washed and in his 30s. For now he’s not leaving max money and a chance to win a title every season

Funny that the reason we don't want to re-sign Siakam is because we can't offer a near max contract.
Now people are looking for other star players and think it will work?
