Edey @ #32?

In light of:
A) Raps own #32 pick in 2024 draft (Pistons pick)
B) Edey performance in tourney so far
C) Need for more size/depth in froncourt

Does it make sense to draft Edey @ #32?. He’s slated to go mid-2nd round and with Boucher on an upcoming expiring, would it make sense?

My guess is he’ll be gone by then.

Zach Edney is related to Dame Edna!

I am bias because he is from Toronto. If we can do what Denver is doing with Jokic defensively, yes. May be he becomes a taller Sengun or Valanciunas lite. We can gather the Canadians together.

Nope he will be gone by then hopefully we nab him with the Pacers pick.

I'll happily take him with our second round pick.

Focus on better prospects with our Pacers pick - McCain, Knecht, Collier, Furphy, Ware, Big Z, etc.

if he's still there with the Detroit pick, sure, why not. I feel like he'll get selected earlier though. Also depends on who else is still available. Another guy we might be interested in with the Indy pick could still be there at 31.

I said it in the draft thread and I'll say it here: He's basically Boban Marjanović. His game translates really well to the college/international rules where you can have a huge player standing in the paint all the time, it's not something that works well in the NBA.

I think there’s a better chance we end up with someone like Nfaly Dante than Edey

He’s long, athletic, swallows up rebounds and blocks shots. Basically a Koloko replacement, plus he’s African so that’s bonus points with Masai. He just has more transferable nba skills than Edey does unfortunately, and unfortunate because I do like Edey

Actually in credible mocks he is projected to go between 20 and 30. So you should ask is the 15th to 18th Pacers pick a viable point to select him if he continues to rise? Dude looks just like Yao Ming clone. If we keep our lotto pick and grab someone like Castle I'd pick him at the Pacers pick and dump the second rounder with Boucher for some asset hopefully young.

Many has him as bust. No lateral quickness and too slow. Not enough skills as well.

I’d take him with the Pacers pick, if he’s still available.
I have a feeling he’s going to shoot up draft boards.

I’m probably in the minority here but I also feel strongly that we should take him with the Pacers pick

There are some question marks, sure. But what he’s done consistently over the past 4 years along with the kind of size profile he has, at worst he will be a serviceable player and as a C, I think he has some potential to outplay that projection over the span of his career.

Raps would be smart to promise him a mid-first pick and then have him decline workouts.

We haven't had a big stiff that opponents can dunk on for a while, so sure why not

HE will have a boban type career. Which isn't terrible in the second round.

I remember seeing Brook Lopez playing us in his rookie season and thinking wow, I would trade Bosh for this guy. And then ... big C's just became less important and Brook was an overpaid stiff for many years. I can't remember, was he salary dumped to LA?

And then ... he became a killer three-point shooter and DPOY. Like, how does that even happen? How can you tell if the big, slow moving C you're drafting can take that trajectory? Was there something special about Brook (taken 9th or so in the draft) that Edey will never have or be? Where would Jonas go in this draft? Can we just get Jonas or Drummond next season for cheap?

So many questions. One thing is for sure, tho'. If this team wants to win next season, Kelly O. can NEVER play centre - not as a starter, not off the bench. He's strictly a back up PF. So Masai has to do something.
