Not gonna lie it kinda hurts to see our former guys playing so well for their new teams. We just have to be patient I guess. It still kinda sucks! Lol

Tobias Harris did not play, else Siakam would have scored about 10 pts.

Sigh... I'm happy to see OG and Pascal thriving. Some serious roster misconstruction by our front office wasted some good years from these guys.

OG might actually get the max. Knicks got a taste and they're not letting go.

Yeah I agree. FVV/OG/Siakam should have got a real C to start 2022/23, not at the deadline when the season was already kind of wasted away.

Either way, FVV still gets a ridiculous Houston overpay and we end up in the same situation regardless.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

OG is a player you never trade , we had to because Masai fkd up plain and simple. If we drafted and traded well from 2019, OG would have stayed.

Ya, he did that for us. 12 in 3 games is wild and he's averaging 2 blocks for the month

Look at Precious in NYK. He's being told what to do, and being told not to do more than he should. not being asked to be a passer, a decision maker, but just rebound, box out, get your body in front of your man, and eat when you get put backs or that occasional open shot. And he's doing better in that limited role.

It was our fault trying to make him a decision maker. Giving him the ball and asking him to dribble and making him think he's some play making stretch 4 that was the huge mistake. It was the FO and coaching mistake thinking he could be THAT. shaking my head.

It's still early looking like a strong possibility we were really much worse than the sum of our parts.

On paper....fred/OG/siakam/Barnes/poetl SHOULD BE GOOD. But I'm thinking there's a serious deficit in elite ballhandling on that combo of players. Which one of them is in the 50th percentile of nba players in a one-on-one tournament? We checked none of the traditional American basketball traditional skillsets. All kinda weird and limited players who are great given the right combination of starters.

Ball handling seems like the most logical explanation for why it didn't work. If you applied the following scale:

-crap
-not good
-decent
-great
-elite

And adjusted for role/position.....it's specifically ball-handling that is the most glaring deficit with that 5.

One guy was crap, one guy not good, 3 guys were decent. Not an elite nor even a great ballhandler on that starting 5. A good team probably needs the minimum of one elite guy and one great guy in the starting 5 for a skill that is so central to the game. It's like a hockey team that has no elite or even great skaters.

You can see why Masai wanted to give this team a chance. Fred is a good player and OG/Pascal are great players. All of them are proving to be more valuable on other teams than ours though. The unfortunate reality is they all would’ve been too expensive to retain and we were just lacking key complimentary pieces for these guys.

I’m excited for the haul that Masai got in both trades and we are setup well for the future. Only blunder is the Poeltl deal and it’s a pretty big blunder.
