Banging the drum again on this one, but not trading for Poeltl to replace the Giddy minutes is the difference between OKC sweeping this series and potentially losing it. They are not even guarding Giddy anymore, so spacing is the same.

i think if mavs had poeltl as one of their centers, i would pick them to come out of the west.

i also think that applies to the thunder.

I said this about giddey before he was drafted. He's not a point guard at the NBA level because he can't shoot or go by his man, rendering the bulk of his passing bag moot. I said something like he has a high likelyhood of becoming a point forward who is unplayable because of defense and lack of shooting. They definitely need to package him to get another big.

I just can't see Masai trading Poeltl anytime soon, especially if we lose our pick. He has been defiant a couple of times when defending that trade.

mavs, knicks, wolves are teams that don't have a center that can shoot 3's so having a stretch 5 is not a requirement to do well in today's nba.

OKC is a team that could absolutely contend to win it all, and Presti passing on the deadline for an obvious need when all you need is help on the edges is indefensible. Really loving those Hayward minutes there.

This should still be OKC in 6, but only if the coach learns that you can't waste minutes with Giddy anymore. You have a playoff rotation and he's just not part of starting it anymore

Continuing to start Giddey. That challenge a mere 3 minutes into the game. And then fouling Lively with over 3 minutes left.

Awful coaching today.

Presti is one of the best GM's but I think this was a mistake. You have Chet and Williams still under their rookie deals for this year plus the next 2, that's a 3 year window to contend while not having to pay those 2 the max deals they will likely eventually command.

I think he probably was thinking to go through this run and give this young core experience and then evaluate what's needed after. I do expect him to finally use that war chest but to me it was a wasted opportunity because they are a legit contender and could have really solidified that by adding some pieces at the deadline.

Even guards as good as SGA still need an above average pull up 3 shot.

Doesn’t matter how skilled you are, you still need that ability and it’s clearly holding SGA back.
