Also is it me or Doug said that one of the advantage of conveying is that the Raptors has some certainty and could trade the pick . With the serpian rule, it’s incorrect right ? I am assuming he meant FRP past 2025 right ?

We have a 1st this year, so we can trade next year's.

I guess I assumed incorrectly it’s our very own 1st round pick .

I will read the article that ArthurVandelay give me as it seems it’s a bit more complicated that I originally thought.

He's more valuable before his 22M option is exercised imo. We need to find a team trying to offload a contract or two before free agency and send them Bruce for a bunch of draft assets so they can decline his option prior to the 29th and free up 22M in cap space.

Contracts teams may be looking to offload:

DeAndre Hunter, ATL (3 more years @ 20M)
Dillon Brooks, HOU (3 more years @ 22M)
Clint Capela, ATL (1 more years @ 20M)
Lonzo Ball, CHI (1 more year @ 20.5M)
Nikola Vucevic, CHI (2 more years @ 18.5M)
Duncan Robinson, MIA (2 more years @ 18M)
Tim Hardaway Jr, DAL (1 more year @ 17.8M)
Jonathan Isaac, ORL (1 more year @ 17.4M)
Harrison Barnes, SAC (2 more years @ 17M)
Davis Bertains, CHO (1 more year @ 17M)
Kevin Huerter, SAC (2 more years @ 15.7M)
Max Strus, CLE (3 more years @ 14.5M)
Brandon Clarke, MEM (3 more years @ 12.5M)
Grant Williams, CHO (3 more years @ 12.3M)

Only way Brown can be traded is to pick up his option.

What you suggest was possible 2-3 CBA’s ago.

They closed that loophole.

He is right...kind of. If i'm understanding correctly, the 2025 1st can be traded after draft night since the obligation has now expired and thus it will not conflict with the Stepien Rule. I'm less clear on draft night in of itself but I do know this: We are able to trade our 2026/27 2nds so if we wanted to move in to the late 1st round to get that guaranteed 4th rookie year vs the 3 years and exception of a second rounder (4th is an option but they become unrestricted in year 4 vs. restricted in 3) or even getting a 2nd second then we could move those picks since there is no longer a chance our pick owed to the Spurs will not convey.
