He really isn’t, maybe to contenders that need a big to come off the bench for matchup situations.

His on-off is +9. We are terrible without him

He missed almost half the season though.

We needed to protect that 6th pick. Lots of people "missed" time.

We’re ass with him, we’re losing anyways. He has no value for a rebuilding team.

He has value in helping IQ and Barnes develop. Barnes need a real center on D and IQ need a a P&R partner

We shall not talk about the lotto and focus on the positive…like when we end up with the 14th worst record next year and we lose in double overtime in the “play-in”, due to some “obviously” bias officiating, (so we can claim the moral victory but still keep the late lotto pick) and Lady Luck decides to shine her light on the deserving Raps with a jump up to #1!

Now back on planet earth:

Pick #19: Devon Carter (shooting, point of attack defence, back up point), Tristan de Silva (shooting, size, ready to play), Tyler Smith (positional size and length, shooting and shot blocking) with a “depends” grade for Missi (is the “extra” real or fools gold) and Ware (how bad are the “motor” concerns).

Pick #31: Jason Tyson (shooting, positional size, creation upside), Hunter Sallies (shooting, positional size and defence but needs to add some lbs, back up PG), with a “if they’ve fallen/depends on who we get at #19” potential for Kolek (shooting, poise, back up PG), George (positional size, shooting potential, upside), Holmes II (shooting, size and length for PF and small ball 5), Carrington (upside, upside, upside and back up PG), Eddy (if he’s still there I’d consider taking a swing because someone that good can’t be all bad)!

Unless one of Collier, McCain or Carter drops, I'd go Daron Holmes @ 19 and Jamir Watkins @ 31. Bringing in two-way players that know how to play will do wonders for this team.

For bonus points buy into the late second and grab Mogbo or Tyon Grant-Foster.

It's all water under the bridge now.

We are in a bad spot, I'm afraid. FO have a lot of work to do, with even less assets.

We should have kept lowry and not traded him for Dragic / Precious if we want to do the players developing each other thing.

Being able to trade next year's pick now, isn't the worst spot to be in. It just depends on who you get back in return.

The 10th pick just won the lottery...
The concept of being the worst in order to be the best is just simply no longer the case.

A luxury tax team just won the lottery

The 10th pick is an obvious exception (their odds were so low but that was literally luck) not the rule so twisting that into a supposed positive is reaching at best.

You mean like all lottery's

This has McCain still available and Holmes in the 2nd round.

I kinda like how he has this draft playing out, atleast early on. I wouldn't draft Tyler Smith if McCain is on board tho

Of course we’re not tanking next year. We never were going to. Frankly, it wouldn’t even be possible with IQ, RJ, Gradey, and Scottie. We’re practically a shoe in for the play in at worst. Yet we have absolute **** morons clamouring for another tank year. How dumb can one be?

Maybe we should trade all of our assets for future picks and maybe try to be competitive in the 2030’s, cuz RJ’s not it, IQ’s garbage and Scottie is never going to be a #1 on a winning team. And Scottie could net us a few future firsts. Let’s do that cause Scottie is leaving for nothing otherwise, anyway. Right? Right?

GTFO

This is why I wanted to convey the pick next year. Barring injuries we are probably in the 11-9th range of seeding and fighting for play-in.

Our ceiling is likely play-in at best but much more likely we will fall short of that. The Poetl trade was bad but a #8 pick this year has theoretically lower value than a
late lottery selection from next year.

The team just needs to get back to using the draft to
improve and accumulate assets. The front office lost sight of that and instead proceeded to trade picks for soon to be free agents or cash relief.

overall I'm fine with this. If it wasn't a top 3 pick then I was okay with the idea of conveying. Still sucks that this was such a wasted year.

Maybe BB or Poetl trades happen and we pick up another prospect. Now that we control our 2025 pick I'm onboard with a full blown tank. We need talent, plain and simple

This wasn’t exactly what Poeltl signed up for when he re-signed with the Raptors this past summer on a four-year, $78 million deal. Reporting at the time suggested the Spurs were the other team interested in Poeltl during free agency but the 7-footer didn’t want to be on a rebuilding team, per ESPN.

The most you could have been off is two picks if you are banking on the pick conveying this year.

Imagine ATL trade the number 1 pick for RJ, can their FO justify it by saying "the #1 pick probably wont be as good as RJ Barrett anyway"
