The NBENFANT Thread (NBA): 2023-2024 Edition!
DID YOU KNOW FANDUEL PAYS OUT 75 MILLION A WEEK????
(these commercials are going to drive me insane. EVERY OTHER COMMERCIAL BREAK IT FEELS LIKE)
But also this is our 2015-16 edition of the Not Big Enough For a New Thread (NBA). Y'all know the purpose by this point.
Edit: This is now our 2017-2018 edition. Congratulations on getting older everyone.

Could be worse, I saw one court this preseason (Staples Center I think) with huge Fan Duel ads painted on the sidelines in the bench area.

He makes some unnecessary passes, but it is true he sees the court better than most bigs, and I like guards that cut and are rewarded with a pass. He and Meyers make a good passing big-man duo.
Hopefully he proves my initial disappointments about his acquisition wrong and looks like the February 2015 Plumlee.

Hey, it's that time of year again. When announcers praise players for things they're doing on new teams - that they did on old teams and never got praised for. Always a fun experience for a small market team.

Sometimes I ask myself how often Anthony Davis sees Nerlens Noel play and thinks "Man, we could have been on the same team. We would have been insane defensively."

Zach LaVine totally froze Shabazz Muhammad out of the offense during the third quarters of this T'Wolves/Lakers game. Mostly this makes me mad because I was playing Shabazz tonight. Don't cost me money, LaVine!

PS highly encourage anyone playing fantasy to play whatever guard is going up against Russell and the Lakers this year. Rubio is hitting jumpers and just scored a career high.

If rockets are hovering at .500 20 games in Mchale fired? They had huge expectations, even though they got lucky in that Clippers series. It doesn't help when you get a big name like Ty to increase expectations, never mind he is incompatible with Harden.
But I am just astounded by how the Rockets have no semblance of an offense at all. If Harden is playing poorly they get blown out every game.

Man. They collapsed tonight. Even without Howard, I don't know if this is a cause for concern?

OMG you don't see 50pts every decade...do you?
Stotts needs to pick apart whatever the Warriors did to the Grizz. That team is like 12-2 VS Stotts as a coach of the blazers (not including the POs).
I mean they not only scored almost 120pts on their Defense, but the Dubs showed the grizz how to play D, holding them to below 70pts. Crazy, don't tell Doc though, they are the lucky champions lol

speaking of last night, Minnesota, Memphis, and Golden State, the 2009 draft was interesting:
2 - MEM - Hasheem Thabeet
5 - MIN - Ricky Rubio
6 - MIN - Jonny Flynn
7 - GSW - Stephen Curry
lol at Minny passing on Curry twice

Hendo should be back any game now. If we are committed to the tank we probably treat him like Kaman, and then trade him in Dec.
I'd like to see him shore-up our depth on the wing and make us more competitive, but to what end?

Yeah, if we can get a late 1st round pick (even if we have to throw in a 2nd rounder to add a bit of incentive), then I'd be all for it.
But if it was just for a mid 2nd rounder, I'd probably rather keep Hendo. He's a good dude and a good player, I'd like to keep him around if it weren't for the potential of getting back a late 1st pick.
Olshey's plan seems to be: get a good pick this year, knowing that even ignoring the new drafted rookie's potential impact, we should be better next year than this current one (our entire team have no reason not to improve, even just slightly). So if we got the #6-7 pick this year, then next year we could be looking at #11-12 potentially, thus we've really got to hope this year's draft pick pans out, as picking later on, statistically speaking, should obviously have that reduced yield (ignoring recent history where Paul George was #10 and Wes Johnson was #4 etc).
Why not double down and get that #24-28 range pick and try and draft a really talented sophomore/junior like Bobby Portis (who I really liked coming into the draft), Rodney Hood etc, who have great skill-sets and could well end up being even better than a lot of the perceived greater upside freshmen class players.

Yeah Hood makes it a lot easier to swallow given the poor play of Exum his rookie year. The 20s pick don't always pan out but when they do it is usually a starter, like Gobert or Batum, Courtney Lee etc.
I just doubt Hendo would stay with this team going into his first time as a FA, so I'd be open to getting anything for him.

Not gonna lie. I chortled a little when I saw the vine of Beal juking LMA for that game winner.

Re: The NBENFANT Thread (NBA): 2015-16 Edition
speaking of bad shooting, how about those Rockets:
Terrence Jones .400
Patrick Beverley .387
Ty Lawson .378
Trevor Ariza .333
Corey Brewer .306
James Harden .294
yeah...sample size. we know it's not the new normal, but it is funny
considering the grief we got from Rockets' fans in the playoffs a couple of seasons ago, I chuckle thinking about what those same fans are going thru right now

Surprised to see the Nuggs cut Erick Green, he is a pure scorer. He is gonna be a rotation level player when on the right team.
