Buddy, Legends of this sport don't get moments like this. It's a swan song, both guys weren't embarrassing but Diaz gets to go out on a win, Tony keeps his consciousness and doesn't take major damage and the show continues to go on.

Leach would have beaten Tony, Khazmat would have run through Diaz like a knife through butter and it wouldn't have done anything for him because Diaz is 37, he's just threw a no hitter against freaking Kevin Holland and cut a great heel promo, he's better off for it.

I agree with everything you’re saying. The ending is great and I love how it turned out and screwed the ufc ( hope they don’t really make Chimaev pay for it) .

Strictly as a fight though it was bad imo.

Like I said, taking that fight was such a dumb move by Holland. If you're going to be dwarfed by your opponent, you better make sure that opponent isn't the far superior wrestler. Hopefully he at least got a nice pay raise.

LOL. Dana announced after the fight that none of the 6 fighters who had altered fights got a single dime extra. No one made more money.

I don't know if Cindy Dandois ever fought Bethe Correira. But if they never did fight, we at least got the closest approximation to it in the main event last night. What a **** piece of garbage. Two stiff, busted dudes with skinny frames and fat bellies throwing single strikes and then falling off balance...and then a guillotine off of a terrible shot. Holy Christ.

It was interesting that Tony did demonstrate a way to take the pressure off once Nate starts to land...he either just turned and ran or he'd bend over at the waste and do boxing-style movement. In short, you really have to exaggerate your evasion to get the **** out of there.

That’s not true though. Dana’s 1000% lying. He just ain’t trying to set a precedent.

Holland already said he got a big bump and you think Nate and Tony didn’t? They all got paid.

Yeah, that occurred to me later. Totally could be right.

Yea. You know Nate especially got paid. He knew the public perception had just swung completely on Khamzat, and without Nate around there is no way the card sells anything. I bet he had the biggest grin answering the UFCs phone call.

I don't know about Nate. You don't think they might have had leverage on him? The fight gets cancelled, he isn't finished with his contract. The UFC would really have to have some badass bluffing skills (that they'd be willing to go forwards without him). But maybe they used them.

Ariel Helwani said his contract expiration date was sometime in October either way. Honestly looking at it now, I'm not sure why he was in such a rush to book a fight with Khamzat if it's expiring next month anyway, and he wanted to stick it to the UFC, unless he really thought he could damage one of their golden gooses.

Who knows.

I'd be surprised if there were an expiration date on ufc contracts.

In the past it was often assumed that the champion’s clause made a fighter’s contract effectively perpetual, thereby forcing them to resign. But Ngannou revealed a potential alternate possibility.

In an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Ngannou disclosed that his contract “is over after 5 years.” According to Ngannou he signed the agreement in December of 2017, but since UFC promotional agreements generally commence on the first fight of an agreement, which for Ngannou was UFC 220, the 5 year termination date should be January 20, 2023. A full year from now.

They all got them these days. Gsps only run out recently / or running out soon.

With Nate he weighed in so he fulfilled his fight obligations. They couldn’t not give him an opponent and then say he’s got one more fight.
