For what I have seen Vogel wants to use him as a backup for both frontcourt positions but primary as a C. He has shown nice chemistry on the court with KD as a ball handler in the P&R.
Stats for the last 5 games:
11.2 points and 7.8 rebounds playing 22 minutes per game. 5/13 from threes.
In all these last 5 games he has never played less than 16 minutes.
Vogel seems to just be giving guys turns. First was Bates, then Yuta, then Little and now Metu and moving into Bol maybe.
Vogel doesn't get enough credit for basically giving the entire roster a chance. One of the key criticisms of Monty was having his guys and not deviating from that unless he really has no option at all but Vogel has played even 2-way guys in non-garbage minutes.
If guys like Saben, Udoka and Bol hadn't been productive in those non-garbage minutes, he'd get crucified for even looking in their direction during games. I'm happy even though guys like KBD and Bol hadn't been great or consistent earlier in the season that he'd go back to give them another opportunity.
